Michigan gained freedom today when Gov. Snyder signed the bill (SB291) into law (PA #98) that repeals the 37 year old mandatory helmet law. The repeal is effective immediately!!!

Awesome…riding thru Michigan is beautiful and now it will be even more enjoyable…yippie!
Yay! Now people are free to leave their brains all over the road & with any luck a lifeless meatsack hooked up to a bevy of machines for their family to care for! Michigan must be in dire need of organ donors.
I can count 5 people who are dead because they were not wearing the proper gear while riding. That doesn’t include the people I know who were doing something stupid like riding beyond their capabilities AND not wearing any gear.
Oddly enough, I agree that it should be the rider’s decision if they want to take that chance, but why do we have to wear seatbelts in a 4-wheeled cage but not helmets on a motorcycle where we’re less visible & more vulnerable?
